Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants IPL Match Highlight

The 4th match of the TATA IPL 2025 Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giantswas a thriller! Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, won by just one run against Lucknow Super Giants. The match took place at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. It was an exciting, high-scoring game. Delhi chased 209 runs, their highest successful chase in IPL history. It went down to the last over and the tension was so high. Delhi Capitals held their nerve. In the end, they clinched a stunning victory.

Ashutosh Sharma was the night’s standout, leading DC to a stunning victory when it looked hopeless with an undefeated 66 off 31 balls. IPL rookie Vipraj Nigam’s 39 off 15 was a key component of DC’s victorious chase, while Nicholas Pooran’s scorching 75 (30) and Mitchell Marsh’s 72 (36) were in vain for LSG.

Dl vs Lsg

Against LSG captain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, who was captaining DC for the first time as a full-time player, chose to bowl first. Making their franchise debuts, LSG openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh got off to a fast start. Marsh specifically attacked Mitchell Starc, his Australian competitor. While LSG brought up 64/1 in the powerplay, Marsh continued to wreak havoc, sprinting to his fastest half-century in the IPL at 21 balls.

LSG VS DC

After joining Marsh at the crease, Nicholas Pooran made an early impression by smashing 25 runs off Vipraj Nigam’s over, in which Sameer Rizvi also dropped a sitter. LSG reached the 100-run milestone in 8.1 overs thanks to an 87-run partnership between Pooran and Marsh. But DC retaliated when Mukesh Kumar used a well-disguised slower ball to dismiss Marsh for 72 (36) runs.

After that, Pant played his much awaited first innings in LSG colors, but Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him for a six-ball duck, ending his brief stay. Pooran continued to attack, hitting four straight sixes off Tristan Stubbs, but Starc quickly put an end to him after he scored a scorching 75 off 30 balls.

As wickets were falling, Kuldeep’s brilliant spell (2/20 in 4 overs) changed the tide of the match by dismissing Ayush Badoni and forcing Shardul Thakur to be run out in the same over. Despite losing steam, LSG ended up at 209/8 in 20 overs thanks to two sixes from David Miller in the last over.

Shardul Thakur removed Abishek Porel and Jake Fraser-McGurk with two strikes in the first over as LSG got off to an equally intense start with the ball. Impact player Manimaran Siddharth quickly put DC in serious trouble by dismissing Sameer Rizvi, putting them at 7/3.

Vice-captain Faf du Plessis and skipper Axar Patel attempted to calm the innings, but as DC attempted to regroup, rookie Digvesh Rathi dismissed Axar (22 off 11) and Faf (29 off 18) to Ravi Bishnoi. But a 48-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma restored optimism.

Stubbs seized the lead and hit a huge six out of the stadium, but debutant Vipraj Nigam was forced to the crease after he was dismissed to Siddharth. Ashutosh’s powerful hitting and Nigam’s bold 39 from 15 balls put DC back in the game.

With momentum flowing back and forth, it was a game that would live on in history. Kuldeep Yadav’s short stint in a high-scoring match helped DC turn things around, and Ashutosh’s spectacular knock will go down as one of the greatest IPL finishes ever.

Brief Scorecard: The Delhi Capitals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants 209/8 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 75, Mitchell Marsh 72, Mitchell Starc 3/42, Kuldeep Yadav 2/20) by one wicket in 19.3 overs (Ashutosh Sharma 66*, Vipraj Nigam 39, Tristan Stubbs 34, Shardul Thakur 2/19).
